The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) will host its 11th Annual Idaho Cancer Policy Roundtable in October 2024. The discussion will focus on bringing together key leaders and decision makers to discuss emerging barriers to cancer care in a rural state and what health care policy can bridge that gap.
Roundtable Focus | Barriers to Cancer Care in a Rural State – A Roundtable Discussion
The Idaho Cancer Policy Roundtable for 2024 will bring together experts, patients and policy makers to discuss the current barriers to cancer care in Idaho. The event will include discussion of the current cancer patient access to treatments while enrolled in Medicaid and the role of public policy in overcoming these barriers.
Topics to be Discussed
- Though cancer care is improving, cancer remains a major health concern with an estimated 10,800 Idahoans expected to receive a new cancer diagnosis this year. Cancer remains the second leading cause of death in the state.
- Developing and executing proven health policies requires collaborative solutions from researchers, business leaders, providers, and policymakers.
- This Summit will highlight future of cancer care in Idaho, how we improve access to treatments, and the impact these can have on our state.
