Join in asking the Colorado Legislature and Governor Polis to level the playing field on biomarker testing

Currently, not all Coloradans may benefit from the latest advancements in biomarker testing and precision medicine.

Biomarker testing is all about connecting patients to the right treatment at the right time.

Precision medicine, which uses information about a person's own genes or proteins, is commonly used to inform treatment for diseases like cancer. Biomarker testing is an important step to accessing precision medicine and targeted therapies, which can improve quality of life and survivorship.

The good news: a bill passed in 2024 to ensure private health insurers provide biomarker testing coverage for Colorado patients who need it.

The bad news: the bill did not include Medicaid, so Coloradans covered by Medicaid will not benefit from the same level of access to this game changing testing.

All people, including those with Medicaid, should have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat and survive cancer, so we're working to ensure more patients can benefit from biomarker testing – regardless of race, ethnicity, gender, age, sexual orientation, socioeconomic status or zip code.

Join ACS CAN in calling on the Colorado Legislature and Governor Polis to enact legislation in 2025 to level the playing field and ensure more Coloradans have access to the biomarker testing they need.
