Marina Watanabe, PhDMarina Watanabe, PhD is a Legislative Ambassador for Congressional District 5 in Massachusetts, and has volunteered with ACS CAN for two years.

Marina’s drive to create a world without cancer began at the age of nine when she lost her mother to lung cancer. Since then, she has worn many hats and fought against cancer in the research lab as a scientist and in the classroom as a STEM educator. She is excited to be able to now take that fight into the law books as an ACS CAN volunteer.

Marina earned her PhD in Biological and Biomedical Sciences at Harvard University. Her graduate research at Brigham and Women’s Hospital focused on discovering novel combination therapies in the treatment of HER2+ breast cancer. When not volunteering with ACS CAN, she can be found officiating weddings, choreographing comical dance routines, and trying out whimsical exercise classes.
