Meet Puerto Rico's Vice-SLA Angel Morales Colon!
Born in Ponce, Puerto Rico, Angel A. Morales Colón is committed to the fight against cancer at a very young age. At the age of 17 he joins the Relay for Life event in his hometown. From there, he knows and connects with the American Cancer Society of Puerto Rico. Since then, his love and commitment to helping each cancer patient has increased exponentially, having this as his life mission. Occupying several leadership positions within the organization and in the Relay for Life event, he was offered to be President of the Let's Make Great Steps Against Breast Cancer march in Ponce for 2019. Angel spent 3 years presiding over this event, which taught him the reach he had within his community. However, on February 9 he received the news he did not want to hear. His father was diagnosed with prostate cancer in the midst of the Covid-19 emergency. There were many procedures that he experienced with his father. This motivated him to continue fighting cancer and reaffirm that he is in the right place.
Today, Ángel Morales is the President of Relevo por la Vida Ponce 2024 and the Puerto Rico Vice State Lead Ambassador of the “American Cancer Society -Cancer Action Network” collaborating in Public Policy efforts on the island. He completed his professional career 2 years ago, becoming a Chemical Engineer, but his passion and determination made him merge his professional career with his voluntary career, obtaining a good balance for both tasks.
“I invite young people to join the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) to help us continue to be spokespersons that a timely diagnosis saves lives. We, the volunteers of this organization, are the ones who will promote a better quality of life for our cancer patients by bringing their voice to state and federal forums.”
