New Law Leaves Menthol Tobacco Products on the Market: More Must Be Done
PROVIDENCE – December 28, 2024 – Starting the first of the year, menthol flavored e-cigarette products will still be on store shelves across Rhode Island.
ALBANY, NY—MARCH 15, 2023— As state budget negotiations heat up, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) will release an analysis showing the annual number of New Yorkers diagnosed with a cancer linked to tobacco use and the number of lives lost to a cancer linked to cigarette smoking. The analysis is based on the 12 types of cancer linked to tobacco use and cigarette smoking and the number of cases and deaths from those cancers each year between 2015-2019 according to the New York State Department of Health Cancer Registry.
ACS CAN will release the analysis surrounded by Lights of Hope, displaying 37 candles for the 37 New Yorkers who will die from a cancer linked to cigarette smoking each day in New York State. Cancer advocates will be in attendance to hold a moment of silence honoring those lost.
