NEW YORK, NY – New York City Council Member Adrienne Adams has secured the necessary votes to be elected Speaker of the City Council.
American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) Senior New York Government Relations Director Michael Davoli, released the following statement.
“On behalf of all New Yorkers, I congratulate CM Adams on becoming the presumptive new speaker. As we look ahead to next year, there are crucial issues that touch cancer patients that the City Council and the Mayor will be considering.
“We look forward to working with the new speaker on issues including ending the sale of flavored tobacco products including menthol cigarettes and ensuring that every New Yorker has access to life-saving doctor recommended cancer screenings.”
