2024 Missouri Legislative Priorities

BREAST & CERVICAL CANCER SCREENING FUNDING:

Advocate for funding of the Show Me Healthy Women Program, which provides free breast and cervical cancer screenings and treatment to low income, uninsured women across the state, and is administered by Missouri DHSS.

TOBACCO PREVENTION AND CESSATION:

Advocate for increased investment in tobacco prevention and cessation at the state level.  With 34.3% of cancer deaths in Missouri caused by smoking, more investments are needed to help adults quit and kids never start.

ACCESS TO HEALTHCARE:

Continue to elevate the importance of access to MO Healthnet to early cancer detection and long-term survival.

ENSURE THAT ALL CO-PAYS COUNT:

When cancer patients get assistance to afford their life-saving prescriptions, those payments should count toward their deductible and any out of pocket maximum costs for insurance.
