Dear friends –
As you may know, I just attended the ACS CAN SLA Summit! This is an annual meeting for State Lead Ambassadors, their staff partners & other CAN staff and leadership. I learned so much!
One issue we talked about was the importance of health equity to the fight against cancer, and the need to ensure that our volunteer teams reflect the diversity of the communities in which we live. Health equity demands everyone gets a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive cancer, regardless of their income, skin color, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability status, or where they live. I’m excited to talk to you more about this soon.
In addition to the role of health equity, I also learned a lot about ……….
And here are a few things I think we can begin to implement in our state, based on what I learned at Summit…….

And finally, an update on our annual Leadership Summit & Lobby Day in September: this event will either be fully virtual, or part virtual/part in-person. I should know more by early June and will keep you in the loop as decisions are made.
