2021 Session Recap

Throughout the West Virginia legislative session, our cancer advocates made their voices heard on our ACS CAN priorities. 

• 42 letters to the editor and news articles were published in newspapers across West Virginia
• 132 emails were sent to lawmakers
• 640 phone calls were made to lawmaker offices

Their efforts assisted ACS CAN in raising public awareness on Big Tobacco and their allies’ bad bills, educating lawmakers on the dangers of taking away local control, and stopping one of those bad bills from moving forward.

Thank you all so much for the hard-work you put in this year! Thank you to everyone who attended our virtual Cancer Action Day. Thank you to everyone who took the time to email and call their lawmakers.

While the legislature ultimately valued the interests of Big Tobacco over the well-being of our kids and communities, we will not let this loss define us or defeat us.

Cancer never stops and neither do we.
