20 Years of ACS CAN
For 20 years, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) has made cancer a top priority for policymakers at every level of government and had measurable impact in reducing cancer’s toll on individuals and families nationwide.
ACS CAN empowers volunteers across the country to make their voices heard to influence evidence-based public policy change that saves lives. We believe everyone should have a fair and just opportunity to prevent, find, treat, and survive cancer. As we mark our 20th anniversary, we’re more determined than ever to stand together with our volunteers and save more lives from cancer.
Working Toward a Smoke-free Nation
ACS CAN advocates for everyone’s right to breathe smoke-free air so that no one is forced to choose between their health and a paycheck. Since 2001, we’ve influenced the passage of laws that require 100% smoke-free workplaces, including restaurants and bars, in 27 states, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands, the District of Columbia and more than 1,146 municipalities across the country.
