PHILADELPHIA—The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) annual policy forum will focus on issues in oncology and health care policy affecting the lives of tri-state residents and everyday Americans.
WHAT: 2019 Tri-State Policy Forum
This event will highlight the ‘Future of Cancer Care’ and bring together key stakeholders in Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania from throughout the oncology community, including leaders in government, research and medicine.
Panel topics will include: the transition from active to post treatment, barriers to survivorship and future solutions, and the importance of a multi-disciplinary team.
The forum is closely tied to ACS CAN’s federal initiative on access to quality of life care and support of the Palliative Care and Hospice Education and Training Act (PCHETA), which was unanimously approved by the House of Representatives late last month. If passed by the Senate, the legislation will facilitate access to quality of life care and coordinated care management for cancer patients and survivors.
WHO: Speakers and panelists will include:
• Dr. Linda Jacobs, clinical professor of nursing and director of development of cancer survivorship clinical programs, research and educational initiatives, Abramson Cancer Center, University of Pennsylvania (Pennsylvania)
• Dr. Virginia Calega, vice president of medical affairs, Independence Blue Cross (Pennsylvania)
• Jack Ciattarelli, former N.J. Assemblyman and cancer survivor (New Jersey)
• Tiffany Kendig, ReVital cancer rehabilitation program director, Kessler Rehabilitation Center (New Jersey)
• Jan White, ACS CAN leadership volunteer and cancer survivor (Delaware)
WHEN: Wednesday, Nov. 13, 2019, 7:30-10 a.m.
WHERE: Independence Blue Cross, 1901 Market St., Philadelphia, PA 19103
