SALEM, Ore. –– On the first day of the 2025 Oregon Legislature, advocates of the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network call on lawmakers to finish the job and end the sale of menthol cigarettes and all other flavored tobacco products.

Late last week, the Oregon legislature introduced HB 3090 which would end the sale of menthol cigarettes and all other flavored tobacco products, including cigars, hookah, e-cigarettes and smokeless tobacco.
PORTLAND – Both candidates for Oregon’s Congressional District 5, Jamie McLeod-Skinner and Lori Chavez-DeRemer, have publicly stated their positions on how, if elected, they would work to make cancer a national priority.
Portland, OR. – Yesterday, Washington County Circuit Court ruled against an existing ordinance to end the sale of flavored tobacco in the county.

Tonight Washington County voters said yes to protecting youth from the dangers of tobacco use. Voters defeated Measure 34-314, an attempt by tobacco manufacturers and retailers led by Plain Pantry, to halt implementation of a law that ends the sale of flavored tobacco products in Washington County. By defeating this measure, Washington County remains the only county in Oregon to prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes and flavored e-cigarettes.
As ballots are mailed out starting Wednesday, April 27, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) urges Washington County voters to protect youth from Big Tobacco by voting “no” on Measure 34-314, which would repeal the county’s ordinance to end the sale of all flavored tobacco products. Last year, Washington County became the first county in Oregon to end the sale of flavored tobacco, and now the tobacco industry is funding the campaign to try and overturn this law.
BEAVERTON, Ore.—Nov. 2, 2021—Today, the Washington County Commissioners passed an ordinance to prohibit the sale of all flavored tobacco products, including menthol cigarettes and flavored e-cigarettes, making them the first county in Oregon to pass a flavored tobacco policy.
