We need more communities to join our movement to end cancer through legislative and policy change. One way in which we engage communities to do this is through our integration with the American Cancer Society’s Relay For Life®.
As Pride month comes to a close, it’s a good time to reflect upon the incredible progress members of the LGBT community have made in communities across the country and around the world.
ACS CAN recently brought together cancer advocates, health care professionals, congressional staff and patients last week on Capitol Hill to address the critical need to preserve funding for the CDC’s important role in cancer prevention at the community level.
Appropriate physical education and an active lifestyle have been among the important issues ACS CAN has focused on over the years. Our staff in NYC are proud New York City’s Mayor Bill de Blasio and City Council released a universal physical education plan for all city schools.
Last week, nearly 120 advocates, including several ACS CAN volunteers, asked their lawmakers to fund cancer research as part of the 18th annual One Voice Against Cancer (OVAC) lobby day. We must keep the momentum going.
