California Cancer Action Center

The San Francisco Board of Supervisors Land Use and Transportation Committee voted to continue a proposed ordinance that would have made bar patios smoke-free to protect workers, patrons and nearby residents from secondhand smoke.

The California Senate unanimously passed Senate Bill 1309 , also known as the Stop Lung Cancer Early Act. The legislation would help ensure more Californians do not delay or skip medically needed follow-up screenings and diagnostic services due to cost.

Over 100 cancer advocates from across California gathered at the State Capitol today for Cancer Action Day. The annual event, hosted by ACS CAN, amplifies the stories of cancer patients, survivors and caregivers to push for policies that help reduce the toll of the disease on Californians.
