ALBANY, NY- April 1, 2019 - The New York State Senate today passed legislation that would prohibit the sale of tobacco products to those younger than 21. The legislation passed the Assembly in March.
The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), the American Heart Association, the American Lung Association and Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids today kicked off a campaign to present 21 reasons to each New York State lawmaker on the importance of enacting legislation to prohibit the sale of tobacco to those younger than 21. One message presented in compelling graphic form will be delivered each day. This legislation is commonly referred to as Tobacco 21.
