Nevada Assemblywoman Sarah Peters (D) has introduced Assembly Bill 155 which would expand access to biomarker testing statewide. Testing has become an increasingly important and game-changing part of cancer care in recent years due to its significant impact in improving survivorship and quality of life. The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is urging members of the Committee on Health and Human Services to vote ‘yes’ to this legislation.

LAS VEGAS—Cancer patients, survivors and advocates from across Nevada will meet virtually this week with Nevada lawmakers during the state’s Cancer Action Week, hosted by the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN).

Today is World Cancer Day and the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network urges the legislature to protect funding for breast and cervical cancer screening and tobacco control efforts. ACS CAN is deeply concerned that the state’s proposed budget slashes approximately $2.5 million from Nevada’s already underfunded tobacco prevention program that was being used to address the youth e-cigarette epidemic.
