Fondos para la investigación del cáncer Press Releases
WASHINGTON, D.C. – March 16, 2006 – The American Cancer Society Cancer Action NetworkSM (ACS CAN) is asking Senators to demonstrate their bipartisan commitment to the war against cancer and support budget amendments that would boost Cancer Research Funding.
Following congressional approval last December of funding cuts for cancer research and programs and last month’s release of President Bush’s budget proposal that recommends further funding reductions, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network today urged senators to support a budget amendment by Sens. Arlen Specter (R-PA) and Tom Harkin (D-IA) that would restore these cuts and increase funding for medical research and programs.
As the nation directs its attention to cancer disparities during this year’s National Minority Cancer Awareness Week, the American Cancer Society and its sister advocacy organization, the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN), are calling on Members of Congress to oppose cuts and increase Cancer Research Funding.
