Budget Proposal Demonstrates Critical Importance of Cancer Screening Program

Florida House and Senate leadership agreed to include $2.2 million in funding for the Mary Brogan Breast and Cervical Cancer Early Detection Program in the budget released yesterday.  The program provides lifesaving cancer screenings to medically underserved women between the ages of 50 and 64 whose incomes are below 200 percent of the federal poverty level.

Cancer Advocates Rally in Support of Tobacco Education

About two dozen cancer patients, survivors and advocates from the American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) rallied at the Maryland Capitol today in support of restoring funding for comprehensive tobacco education to $21 million annually.
