The American Cancer Society Cancer Action Network (ACS CAN) is the non-profit, non-partisan advocacy affiliate of the American Cancer Society. ACS CAN West Virginia staff and volunteers encourage elected officials to not only talk about fighting cancer but also take real steps toward decreasing the impact of cancer on our state.
As WV ranks #1 in tobacco use and #1 in tobacco-related deaths in the Nation, we are currently focusing on tobacco control issues.
We can't say thank you enough for your role in fighting for helping fight for West Virginia cancer patients and communities this year.People like you give us an attitude of gratitute, and we'd love to hear more from you!
West Virginia has the highest adult smoking rate in the country, over 28% of West Virginia high school students use tobacco products, including e-cigarettes, and nearly 38% of cancer deaths can be attributed to smoking in the state, the highest smoking-attributable cancer death rate in the country.
Do you have a personal story about how cancer has impacted you or someone you love? Real stories are how ACS CAN ensures that no one becomes a statistic.
